Upholstery: removable, composed of a layer in synthetic felt – made from polyester fibers derived from the recycling of PET bottles from waste sorting, that will be 100% recyclable again – to which décors are applied, made by using production cuttings of the different fabrics and materials in the collection.

Since the beginning, The Catalano bench has been left unchanged. It has a lasting quality and an uninterrupted beauty. Antoni Gaudí developed a profile for his Güell Park benches in Barcelona. Lluís Clotet and Oscar Tusquets found that the benches’ ergonomics were unimprovable, so they adapted the design into the Catalano. It has been in our catalogue since 1973, and remains one of our most popular pieces. Its one-metre length is light with a netted body that is almost translucent. This prevents rainwater collecting and keeps the structure cool in summer. It blends into its surroundings, can be assembled back-to-back, and has different leg options depending on its desired placement. While paying homage to Gaudí, the Catalano bench is effortlessly functional and beautifully dynamic.

Alfredo Häberli’s bench sits inside and out, and can double as a table as much as an ergonomic and comfortable seating system. Inspired by the Catalano benches by Oscar Tusquets and Lluís Clotet, Alfredo Häberli designed the Swiss Benches Collection for BD. The El Poeta Bench has a light, fluid profile and textured body, and it became a bestseller, sitting comfortably in the public and domestic spheres. It can be placed back-to-back as a table, where one can sit outwards or inwards to write or eat with the support of the levelling backrest. The steel sheet is perforated and breathable, wrapping elegantly around tubular steel supports. Coated with cataphoresis, the bench is stable and corrosion-resistant and was awarded the Gold Delta Award by ADI FAD in 2007.

The natural materials featured in the Eres collection can be used outdoors, but not be directly exposed to the elements, and require some extra attention and care than traditional outdoor furniture. These products need to be used under a stable cover and to be protected overnight. It is also recommended that they are sheltered indoors for seasonal protection. Some of the materials will mature and will change appearance and colour over time. And this will naturally happen.
